Mounted in an all weather, impact resistant, polycarbonate enclosure is a high contrast, high brightness graphical screen that has several messaging, font sizes, and brightness levels selectable via an RS232/422, wired Ethernet, or wireless 802.11b WiFi interface. This flexibility allows for the terminal to utilize the unit as just a "dumb terminal" or a more advanced device that connects to the terminal wireless network.
In addition, this unit has value added features not typically found in messaging solutions. The HKI MDT includes messaging server based software for simple connectivity, hardware and software for monitoring vehicle fuel level, engine hours, engine temperature, oil pressure, etc on the installed equipment with external sensors connected to the MDT. Other features include proximity card readers that can be installed to verify who is driving terminal equipment and even disable equipment if needed.
